I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to a Cuban mother and an Argentine father, and I grew up between Miami, Philadelphia, and Buenos Aires, where I am currently in my third year of Journalism at Universidad Católica Argentina. Writing and photography are my passion, and I strive to become a magazine editor. My immediate goal after graduating from college is to attend New York University in order to do a masters in Magazine Writing (or maybe in Cultural Reporting and Criticism; I haven’t decided yet!). As most journalists, I am very curious and I love to learn about anything and everything. I am deeply interested in other cultures, languages, religions, and people, and travelling is an essential part of my lifestyle. I speak Spanish and English fluently, and some French. I value people with an open mind and a good sense of humor who do not take themselves too seriously. I am outgoing, talkative, fun, and very much a risk taker –I will try anything once (OK, almost anything!). Some of my favorite pastimes include playing the guitar, dancing, and reading. I recently became a catechist at my local church and so far it has been a very rewarding experience.
I look forward to meeting everyone in July!

Hey Maria,
I was just going through the bios of the people taking part in the seminar, and the more I read, the more I realize how much I have in common with everyone else. I think we’re all so passionate about what we do which I think will make this experience very inspiring.
I can’t wait till we’re all in Salzburg!!
See you soon,
~Samia
