My name is Muriel Alarcón, I am twenty years old and I am in my third year of journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Católica from Chile.
I have always had a special interest in the investigative journalism in the public interest. In my opinion, journalism task is to reveal the truths that affect all of us and through it give citizens the chance to live in democracy. If you don’t know what it is going on in your country, for example, if there are whatever kind of problems, you won´t never be able to solve them. It’s time for a change. The journalists’ haven´t been able to make the task. Most of mass media from all over the world are managed by people who have forgotten the first journalism task. They, as mass media owners, have much more personal ambitions than collectives ones. I really want to work in ending with these. We, as the future journalists, have the mission to make everyone remember the first journalism task.
