PIC TO COME SOON!
My drive for peace in a world of injustices was learned; I was born into an illusion of harmony. My father was a Lebanese man married to a country-side American independent and, together, they raised a family of five children into an illusory world of multi-cultural tolerance and cohesion. I celebrated Christmas with my grandparents in New York and religious Muslim holidays with my extended family in the suburbs of greater Beirut, Lebanon. I’ve lived in Lebanon, the USA, and Saudi Arabia. Violence, hatred, prejudices, and anger continue to surround me and I have come to realize that ignorance is a causal factor and apathy, towards improving their attitude and learning about the ‘others’, is the perpetuating stance. My vocation is to increase awareness and to make people care using every channel I can infiltrate. I have two very specific goals in my life and, from them, I have never strayed. They are very simple, and perhaps cliché, but they set the agenda for every day of my life: I am constantly trying to better myself and this world. That being said, my professional goals are rather vague; I am seeking a position that would allow me to have the greatest positive impact on my surroundings. Specifically, one could say I am interested in delving into the field of transitional justice using diverse approaches to rebuild nations and work towards democratic peace and stability in post-conflict societies, specifically Lebanon and in the Middle East.
